IN MOTION SINCE 1979
The history of the National Dance Company of Spain (Compañía Nacional de Danza) is the history of dance in Spain. It began in 1979 and will soon celebrate 50 years of creating art and presenting it on stages around the world.
DEDICATED TO THE ARTISTIC EXPRESSION OF THE BODY
A company devoted to dance—an art form that allows for the expression and appreciation of a wide range of feelings and emotions, as well as concepts, ideas, beliefs, events, and attitudes through the language of the body.
LED BY GREAT DANCERS AND CHOREOGRAPHERS
Over the years, the company has been led by renowned dancers and choreographers: Víctor Ullate, María de Ávila, Ray Barra, Maya Plisetskaya, Nacho Duato, Hervé Palito, José Carlos Martínez, Joaquín De Luz, and Muriel Romero.
A TEAM OF NEARLY ONE HUNDRED PEOPLE
Today, the CND is made up of nearly one hundred people who together create a living and ephemeral art nourished by the creativity of musicians, choreographers, dancers, set designers, ballet masters, stage managers, sound, lighting, and costume technicians.
TO OFFER A CULTURAL EXPERIENCE
They work together to offer a cultural experience designed to inspire reflection, raise awareness, or simply provide the enjoyment of beauty—but one that always contributes to the personal growth of those who experience it.
READY TO PERFORM ON YOUR STAGE
The company can now come to life in all kinds of venues—from large auditoriums and classical theaters to more avant-garde spaces like streets, squares, museums, and exhibition halls.
