The CND wins over both audiences and critics with its production Aión
The Compañía Nacional de Danza’s new programme, presented at the Teatro de la Zarzuela under the artistic direction of Muriel Romero, has sold out, receiving an enthusiastic response from audiences and widespread acclaim from dance critics.
The Compañía Nacional de Danza has made a highly successful start to its new chapter at the Teatro de la Zarzuela with Aión, a production that celebrates dance as a universal form of expression, capable of moving people, forging connections and bringing them closer together through the language of the body.
Preparing the production has involved an intensive period of work at the Teatro de la Zarzuela, where dancers, the artistic team and technical staff have joined forces to ensure that every aspect of the staging is carefully crafted. They have been joined by the Orquesta de la Comunidad de Madrid (ORCAM), conducted by Daniel Capps, and pianist Gustavo Díaz-Jerez, whose contributions have made it possible to create a live dialogue between music and movement.
Under the artistic direction of Muriel Romero, Aión takes audiences on a journey through different ways of feeling, communicating and understanding the world. The production places dance at the heart of emotional expression and human connection, creating a stage experience in which the roots of tradition intertwine with new forms of contemporary creation.
All nine performances have been warmly received by audiences. Each performance has ended with prolonged and heartfelt applause, reflecting the connection forged between the artists and the audience. This enthusiastic reception has been echoed by positive reviews from the specialist press, which has praised the dancers’ interpretative talent, the complexity of the repertoire and the diversity of styles and choreographic approaches featured in the programme.
Aión brings together three choreographic works representing different periods and styles in the history of dance: Paquita, by Marius Petipa; Petite Mort, by Jiří Kylián; and The Second Detail, by William Forsythe. This artistic journey spans the technical excellence and virtuosity of classical ballet and the expressive possibilities of contemporary dance, showcasing the versatility and interpretative range of the company’s dancers.
As its performances at the Teatro de la Zarzuela come to a close, the Comapñía Nacional de Danza would like to thank audiences for their trust in Aión and for the enthusiastic reception that has accompanied every performance.
The company’s programme will continue over the coming months with further performances. On 14 November, it will present NumEros in Alcobendas, before bringing NumEros (II) to the Teatro Real from 15 to 18 January next year, where audiences will have another opportunity to enjoy the company’s artistic vision.
