Compañía Nacional de Danza

The Compañía Nacional de Danza has kicked off the 2026/27 season to a warm reception in Santander. On Sunday, 30 August, the CND returned to the Sala Argenta at the Palacio de Festivales de Cantabria as part of the 75th edition of the Santander International Festival, presenting NumEros, a programme that brings together three major approaches to contemporary and neoclassical dance through works by George Balanchine, Jacopo Godani and William Forsythe.

Anticipation for this first performance of the new season was evident in the days leading up to it, with all advance tickets sold out. With the Sala Argenta packed, the CND presented a programme that brings together tradition, precision and energy, receiving an enthusiastic response from the audience.

NumEros’s run in Santander is also backed by the excellent reception the programme has received since its premiere at the Teatro de la Zarzuela. Reviews published following its first performances have highlighted the coherence of the programme and the CND dancers’ ability to tackle a repertoire of immense technical demands and choreographic complexity, underscoring the company’s high calibre as performers.

This season opener thus marks the first step in a new chapter that will take the CND to some of the leading national and international stages, while consolidating its commitment to a diverse repertoire capable of fostering a dialogue between the neoclassical tradition and new forms of contemporary creation.
