The Herds, a collaboration among CND, the Walk Productions and Centro Danza Matadero
The Compañía Nacional de Danza, assisted by artistic director Ana Catalina Román, joins the urgent call for climate action through culture by starring in the Madrid stop of The Herds on Saturday, June 7th at 6:30 p.m. The Herds are an ambitious artistic initiative by the English company The Walk Productions, under the artistic direction of Amir Nizar. This initiative sees a herd of life-size wild animal puppets embark on a 20,000-kilometer journey to raise awareness about the effects of climate change. This journey began on April 9th in Kinshasa and will end in Trondheim, Norway, at the end of July. On their journey to the Arctic Circle, the puppets will visit 19 cities in 11 countries.
On Saturday, June 7, the animal puppets escaping the climate disaster will meet with the cast of the Compañía Nacional de Danza and the musicians of Neopercusión, giving rise to an artistic performance entitled A Hunt in Broad Daylight. This performance will begin at 6:30 p.m. behind Nave 16 of Matadero, in Madrid Río. From there, they will head to the Nave de Terneras of the Casa del Reloj Cultural Center and return at 7:15 p.m. to the exterior of the Matadero Dance Center in Plaza de Matadero, where the artistic performance will conclude. Live music from the Neopercusión group will accompany dancers and puppets throughout the itinerary.
